Cashmere/Pashmina

Nepali Cashmere, also known as Pashmina, is a luxurious and highly prized textile made from the fine wool of Himalayan mountain goats. Cashmere is a type of wool known for its exceptional softness, warmth, and lightweight feel. Pashmina specifically refers to the highest-grade cashmere, sourced from the underbelly and neck of the Chyangra goat (Capra hircus), which roams freely in the Himalayan region.

Characteristics of Nepali Cashmere:

Softness: Nepali cashmere is incredibly soft and gentle against the skin.

Warmth: Despite its lightweight nature, it provides excellent insulation, making it ideal for cold climates.

Luxury: Pashmina is associated with luxury and elegance.

Production Process:

The wool is carefully collected during the molting season when the goats naturally shed their winter coat.  Skilled artisans in Nepal hand-spin and weave the fibers into exquisite textiles. The weaving process can take weeks, as each piece is meticulously crafted.

Products Made from Nepali Cashmere:

Sweaters and Cardigans: Cashmere sweaters are prized for their warmth and softness.

Scarves and Stoles: Pashmina scarves are lightweight yet cozy, perfect for draping over shoulders.

Shawls and Wraps: These elegant accessories add a touch of sophistication to any outfit.

Blankets and Throws: Cashmere blankets are a luxurious addition to home decor.
